About us

Posted by Dee-Ann On August - 5 - 2010

Rockabilly-online is an international online magazine with daily fresh stories about rockabilly lifestyle, artist interviews (Marti Brom), fashion ( Laura Byrne of Pinup Girl Clothing), pinup (Bernie Dexter), photographers (Viva van Story), cd reviews, band profiles, Burlesque stories, furniture articles etc.

It started as a one woman magazine writing about fifties music, furniture and clothing. In july 2010, the magazine took off, when gradually more writers joined, to write daily about all the stuff worldwide Rockabilly’s (and others) want to read about.

Within a few months, an explosive increase of fans occurred. We went from 300 visitors to 7000 visitors per month (October 2010) and the number is still growing.

We have a selected group of writers, but everyone who is interested is welcome to apply. Even if you’re not thinking of a writer career, send us your tips, comments, stories, interests, pictures, tattoos, questions etc. Because YOU keep this magazine alive. Rock it to us!

Our writers:

Dee Ann

I am Dee Ann writer and founder of Rockabilly-online.com. I live in Rotterdam, Holland. With my band Dee Ann and the Nightcaptains I travel around the country and in Belgium, Germany and the UK. The music is what makes me sparkle. Along with the music I love the Rockabilly lifestyle. I started this magazine two years ago. Along the way I’m happy to have gathered some awesome writers who share the same interests. My mission is to honor the original artists from the 50’s, to keep the vintage lifestyle alive, to keep track of today’s top artists and to help new artists with the exposure they need. (With artists I mean musical, tattoo, photographer, model, designer …)

Who knows, we might be at the root of some growing carreers here.

Miriam

Miriam

Hi everyone, my name is Miriam and I live in Hoorn (The Netherlands). During the week I work at a construction company, at the department of quality and environment.
I know Dee-Ann by her music, because I’m a fan of her band.
Since my childhood I’ve been a big Elvis fan and as I grew older I became increasingly interested in other styles within the scene, mostly Rockabilly, Hillbilly, Jive and Swing.
It is great that the Rockabilly scene is still so active and I hope that this will continue for many years.
I regularly visit concerts and performances in the Netherlands (and Belgium) and also at Elvis-meetings I’m still to find. Occasionally I write an article for the Dutch Rock ‘n’ Roll magazine The Jubop. Check out the new magazine soon for my interview with Dee!
I look forward to post some concert reviews on this great website and hope you’ll like it.

Greetings,

Miriam

Rocky

Hi, I’m Rocky, writer and reviewer for rockabilly-online. I am a 20 year old Teddy Boy from The Netherlands. I grew up in the rockabilly scene, father being a Teddy Boy and mother being rockabella. I like Rock and Roll, rockabilly, pinup, 50’s, doo-wop and hot rods!
I go to see a lot of bands, so I’ve been asked to post some CD-reviews and story’s of party’s i go to, and I said, yeah, sure would be fun:)
I am studying for cameraman, so in my free time I film the bands and put the clips on YouTube.

Got off to an early start in guitarplaying and quit after school and started to work. Gladly I never forgot music even though i wasn’t active as a musician for a period of about 13 years. Damn shame! Picked up the Fender Strat i kept all those years and got myself a Gretsch to get a proper start (once again) in Rockabilly. A child’s wish was the doublebass I got myself a couple of years ago and started slapping it hard. Dragged my brother along to play blues and rockabilly! He doesn’t mind not having a social life, he’s got a Caddy Coupe and a couple of doghouse basses. What more could a guitarplayer want than having the tightest bassplayer at his side….!! So with him I’ve enjoyed playing in a couple of bands and currently we’re making a good start with a classic hard hitting bluesband doing Chessrecords style covers. And while we’re playing, why not get the bandmates to do some smokin’ rockabilly. Wouldn’t want to leave my Gretsch to collect dust! I love to youtube all night, love to see good blues and rockabilly bands live to see if there’s any good stuff i didn’t know about! I like to get to the bottom of things, that’s why I sometimes do album and gigreviews for a leading Dutch blues website. That encourages me to analyse things I hear. And I’d like to do exactly the same and more on this very stylish website! And if you’ve got any guitartricks or questions, don’t hesitate to mail me I can talk about tube amps and guitars untill the cows come home!

Cheers! Angel
