Rhythm Rocker Revue #1, review

Mars, bassplayer of Dee’s Honeytones and I (Dee Ann) thought it was a good thing to light our city Rotterdam up, with a rockabilly event. We called Schorem, Haarsnijder en Barbier, an oldfashioned barber to get their chairs and shave and cut our male audience. We invited Real Deal Vintage clothing with a stall.

We asked 44 shakedown to be the headliner band, so we can open the evening with Dee’s Honeytones. As a big surprise guest, Lil’ Esther joined me to sing a song or two with us on stage. We had vintage photographer Stephan Creutzburg to capture the whole event onstage and backstage.

The atmosphere was great, Hal 4 had a beautiful ballroom with a stage and a lovely view on the harbour of Rotterdam.

The dressingroom was either packed or quiet. We orderd pizza and I brought sandwiches in case someone gets hungry before pizza. We had enough drinks and chocolates. When I wanted to get dressed I kicked the men out of the room. The women could stay to gossip or to help me decide what to wear and how to crl my hair. Rockabilly-online writers, Fiona, Miriam helped us out at the cash register together with Marco. Fiona is also a great photographer. Miriam and Marielle filmed the bands. We had a whole event crew.

Esther sang, You’re mine, Hot date and Mercy with us. And 44 Shakedown introduced us to their newest member saxplayer Lodewijk. This band of five well dressed men, took us to the forties with their jazzy sound. Photographer Stephan Creutzburg captured the whole event, onstage and backstage.

We had a blast!
