Candye Kane has been playing with her son Evan as a drummer, for eight years now. But they decided it was time he persued his own musical career. Her new drummer is a good friend of guitarist Laura Chavez: Baldhead Fred Rautmann. Fred lives in Hollister, Ca and has played in a variety of bands.
Candye has also released her very first cassette Burlesque Swing on cd, and also compiled a greatest hits cd featuring 23 songs from her stage play “The Toughest Girl Alive.” She also released a cd called “One night in Belgium” featuring pianist Sue Palmer performing with her in Eeklo, Belgium in 1999. The cd is just vocal and piano and all jazz or gospel standards. All of these titles are available ONLY at a live performance or on cd baby
I asked Candye to name 10 of her favorite songs. This is what she came up with:
“Wow. It’s really hard to name only ten favorite songs but I guess if I have to:
Thats All – Bobby Darin
The Wheel of Fortune- Kay Starr
I love to take orders from you – Mildred Bailey
I gotta have my baby back- Floyd Tillman
Marie, Marie – The Blasters
Fallin – Wanda Jackson
Minor Swing – Django Reinhardt
Respect Yourself- The Staple Singers
Crazy for my baby – Willie Dixon
Sabor a mi- Eydie Gorme
