Danielle Darling

A while back I started a thread on pin-up lifestyle’s forum. Well the thread grew into a monster discussion and through it I met the lovely Danielle Darling. She’s been featured here before, but let’s get to know her better!

Tell us how your interest in pin-up started?

-I’ve always wanted to be in the spotlight. I loved being in Theater in high school and always knew that I was meant for more than office work. I found a photo of Natalie Alvarado who works as a model for www.Pinupgirlclothing.com and was inspired! I loved everything about what she represented and felt that at my size I could still be beautiful and big. I began researching other voluptuously curvy plus size pinups and just felt that I finally found where I belonged in the world.

How long have you been at it?

-I have only been modeling for about 6 months now and I just ADORE it! I never realized how much fun being a modern pin up really is! The Pinup community is just filled with a bunch of wonderful people and I’ve been so lucky to have had the chance to work with some awesome people!

What are some of the events you’ve taken part in?
– I recently modeled for www.BettiePageClothing.com at The Curvy Revolution in Las Vegas at the Planet Hollywood Hotel and am currently in the running to have a chance to compete at the Pinup Pageant for the Ink N Iron Festival this summer!

Any classic beauties that have inspired you?
-Rita Hayworth & Bettie Page are definitely the most inspiring classic beauties to me. I just love their desire to always be themselves! They were both just stunning women!

However, I find myself to be more inspired by current pinup beauties like Masuimi Max, Micheline Pitt, Doris Mayday, La Cholita and Natalie Alvarado! These are gorgeous women who are timeless beauties and so incredibly sweet and talented! La Cholita and Natalie are the kind of women who are paving the road for curvy and plus size pinups like myself! They are a constant inspiration to always be comfortable in my own skin.

Do you think the rockabilly scene is more open to plus-sized women as sex symbols?
-Most definitely! I think that the rockabilly scene embraces curves much more than any other identified group. Hourglass shapes have always been adored by this awesome community and it’s amazing! I love that all women whether plus size or not are viewed as sex symbols in the Rockabilly world because that’s how it should be. All women are different. Some women have hourglass shapes, or pear shapes and its nice to be apart of a community that praises women in general! It’s refreshing to be involved in a community of people where I don’t have to constantly worry about if I’m being judged.

Where do you see your career going?

-I would love to be able to spend the rest of my life as a Pinup model. It would be wonderful to call Pinup modeling my career! However, I don’t ever want it to become work. I love pinup modeling because of the fun, care-free attitude and persona that I associate with it. If it becomes a “career” it will lose the meaning of what its meant for, pleasure! I hope to one day be able to have fans who want to meet me and see me at events. The sky’s the limit and I’m not stopping until I hit it!
