Carmen Lee and the tomorrow river two - Big Star

Thirteen songs on Carmen Lee’s debut album “Big Star”. All written bij Carmen Lee herself and some by guitar player Gregg “Orlow” Orlowski. Doghouse base and acoustic guitar is the basis of this semi acoustic trio. They’ve created an album with songs in various country, bluegrass and rock and roll styles, even using a hammond Organ and a Toy Piano.

The album opens with the title song: Big Star, which is about … well becoming a big star and the other person staying his own simple self. Very cute. Carmen Lee has a way of singing hardly to be compared with anyone, which gives the band their very own sound.

If you like rock and roll (who doesn’t now?) you’ll like Jukebox Baby. And for blues balads lovers there’s Confusion and This Old Town with beautiful slide guitar.

This is an album you’ll have to get used to, but the different styles keeps it interesting to listen to. Not an everydays album, but I think worth the attention.

Carmen Lee: Vocals, Hammond Organ, Schoenhut Toy Piano, Keyboards

Gregg “Orlow” Orlowski: Vocals, Acoustic Guitar
