Part 1 – If your lonely,  rock-a-bop your socks off!

The whole package from Crazy Records

The whole package from Crazy Records

When I came home I found two packages on my doormat. One contained a CD from The Royal Hounds, which I wrote about earlier.  The second package contained some vinyl and some cds. When I took a look, I saw that they container some various subgenres of rockabilly, like Neo rockabilly, Rock and Roll, swing and of course regular rockabilly.

Al Willis & the New Swingsters

Al Willis & the New Swingsters

I decided to begin with Al Willis & the New Swingsters because I love everything I get to review that’s vinyl! It is a 45RPM with two songs on the front and two on the back. On the A-side we have Sock Beat Bop and Look Who’s Lonely, both self-written material. Sock Beat Bop is a fast footstampin’ song, while Look Who’s Lonely has very sad lyrics. The Slappin’ Bass on the last one is really badass! On the B-side we have Rock-a-bye Rock and She’s My Little Baby, again the first track being fast rockabilly and the second being a little slower. It’s really like old-school rockabilly, in the style of 50s stars Johnny Burnette and his trio and the more recent Phil Friendly. Really nice to listen to on my record player.   Really nice 50’s rock and roll there 🙂 Good vinyl record!
